Glory Road: The Underground Railroad

With more than 3,000 miles of underground railroad pathways, Ohio has a rich history of helping slaves on the road to freedom. Every pathway tells a story. Carol Lucas will present all the earmarks (nocturnal flights; symbols and signals; heroes and legends) of the 19th century anti-slavery legacy. Sponsored by the Friends of the Bay Village Branch Library in collaboration with Dwyer Memorial Senior Center.

Monthly meeting of Chapter 91 of the Public Employee Retirees, Inc. (PERI)
11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Guest speaker will be Sherma Brown, of Humana Insurance Company. She is an Account Advisor for the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS). Her talk will focus on Humana health coverage, the current plan as well as anticipated changes in 2016. Ms. Brown, who has held numerous positions with Humana, worked on the State's Medicaid expansion project. Public sector retirees are welcome to attend the meetings. Light refreshments served.

Joel's Place for Children Grief Support Groups
7:00 PM - 8:15 PM
Joel's Place for Children holds peer support groups for children and teens ages 5-18 who have experienced the death of someone special in their lives. A support group for parents and/or caregivers of children who are grieving will meet concurrently.

Sessions involve participation in arts and crafts, games, age-appropriate discussions, and other activities designed to help children express their feelings in a safe and supportive atmosphere with other children who have experienced a death.
