Learning for Life Brown Bag Lunch: The Anatomy of a Heart Attack

Join us for this FREE lunch series as we discuss the anatomy of a heart attack.
One in three adults worldwide will die of cardiovascular disease (stroke, coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, blood vessel disorders, etc.). Coronary artery disease is the leading cause of death worldwide, and 3.8 million men and 3.4 million women die of the disease each year. Join us for an anatomical tour of the heart as we investigate the frailty of the human heart and the science of coronary artery disease.

Teaching Responsibility for Academic Success - A Parent's Role

The Westlake Council of PTAs and Elementary School Counselors are sponsoring “Teaching Responsibility for Academic Success – a Parent’s Role,” a free parenting program that is designed to give practical skills that can be used immediately with preschool through teenage children.
A parent has a big influence on their children’s academic success. What are some of the things parents should know and do in order to help their children get the most out of their educational experience? This session covers ways to help your child become more responsible for their learning and be able to be better problem solvers. As a bonus, parents will find out how to get their kids to do chores without hassles.
This one session program will be held on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Dover Intermediate School Band Room, 2240 Dover Center Rd., Westlake. No pre-registration is required and the event is free of charge.
