Free Family History Research Help Session

Members of Cuyahoga West Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will offer free family history research assistance, to the public. If you have data recorded to pedigree and/or family group sheets, please bring these forms, as they will aid the volunteers in helping you.

Go Nuts with Squirrels (After School Art & Nature Club with BAYarts)
4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
In this collaboration with BAYarts, we’ll explore squirrels like never before! You’ll spend your first day at the Center getting to know our resident squirrel and conducting an experiment. On the second day, head to BAYarts to create your very own squirrel using clay and your imagination.

For children in grades 1-4. Fee: $35/child. Please register in advance with Lake Erie Nature & Science Center. Class also meets at the same time on March 9.

Westlake Community Police Academy
6:30 PM - 9:30 PM
Wednesdays from March 2-May 11, participants will get hands-on experience in crime scene processing, self-defense and firearms instruction. Other topics include K-9 operations, SWAT, OVI apprehension, law enforcement technology and detective bureau investigations. This is a great opportunity to see how WPD runs and what the officers are trained to do with the goal of building a stronger partnership between the community and the Police Department through education and understanding. It’s NOT designed to assist those seeking to pursue a career in law enforcement. Participants must be at least 21 years old and have no criminal record. Preference will be given to those applicants that live or work in Westlake.

Retracing Footsteps: A Glimpse of Lakeside Cemetery in Bay Village

College Club West will host its general meeting. The program will be presented by Cathy Flament, author and President of Bay Village Historical Society.
