Navigating Unconscious Bias: How Our Automatic Thoughts Shape Our Reality
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Unity Spiritual Center Westlake will offer a panel discussion, moderated by four professionals, on how cognitive bias creates a lens through which we view the world. They will discuss what cognitive bias is, what it is not, how to recognize it in ourselves and what, if anything, to do about it. Participants will learn how to become part of a solution to creating a more honest, open, and peaceful world by building an awareness in ourselves and others of ways to minimize the negative influences of cognitive bias.

Psychologists have identified and described nearly 200 separate cognitive biases including well- known ideas such as confirmation bias, stereotyping and the placebo effect. Unconscious biases or automatic thoughts affect every aspect of our lives such as how we interact in relationships, how we make our decisions as consumers and investors, how we make our choices in healthcare, how we respond to information and misinformation and much more.

All are welcome to join this very informative discussion. The event is free, although a free will offering is always welcome and appreciated.
