Westlake welcomes firefighter/paramedic Ryan Sholtis

Westlake Mayor Dennis Clough with Ryan Sholtis, Chief Jim Hughes and Asst. Chief Mike Freeman.

The City of Westlake welcomed another new member of the city's fire department on April 24. Firefighter/paramedic Ryan Sholtis comes to Westlake with more than seven years of experience in his chosen field.

Sholtis took the oath of office, administered by Mayor Dennis Clough, at Westlake City Hall in front of family, friends and colleagues. Mayor Clough and Fire Chief Jim Hughes explained to those in attendance that Westlake prides itself on the high standard of excellence it holds for its firefighters, making it no small feat to be hired to the Westlake Fire Department.

Prior to Westlake, Sholtis spent four years working for the City of Parma, two years working for Olmsted Falls and also worked for Broadview Heights.

The City of Westlake is pleased to continue its efforts to bolster its safety forces given the number of retirements that have occurred over the past two years. These efforts include adding three new firefighters in February.
