Friends of Porter Public Library receive three "Best Friends" awards

The Friends of Porter Public Library have won three Best Friends Awards from the Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF). The awards honored the telephone pole banners advertising the Annual Book Sale, the lobby banner, and the “Go Green” shopper bags available at the Circulation Desk.

The Best Friends Awards recognize Friends groups from around the country for their print and electronic materials that promote the group and its special programs and projects.

“The Friends of Porter Library really are our best friends,” said Library Director Andrew Mangels. “We would not be able to do so many of the things we do without them, so we’re delighted that they have been nationally recognized.”

It is awards season at the library. In April, the library and its trustees awarded the Myrna Chelko Award for volunteers to Ingrid Bowman and the Thomas A. Fox Distinguished Trustee Award to former trustee Sharon Didion.

Elaine Willis is the Public Relations Associate for Westlake Porter Public Library.
