Drug collection drive a huge success

The Westshore Enforcement Bureau (WEB) gratefully acknowledges all the officers who worked on Saturday, Oct. 29, for the success of the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.  Thanks to the police officers of the Westshore communities, lay volunteers, and the citizens of all six western suburbs, 933 lbs. of outdated and unwanted medications were collected for safe disposal.

Well over 500 citizens participated in this event which not only protects our food and water supply, but also removes potentially harmful pharmaceuticals from private residences. The DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, in cooperation with Operation Medicine Cabinet, was established to decrease drug abuse and protect children, teens and adults from accidental or intentional misuse of controlled medications by providing collection sites at police departments throughout the country.

WEB is a proud participant of this event and extends sincere thanks to everyone who, through their support, increased the safety and welfare of Westshore families.
