Santa's national bus tour stops at the Great Northern Macy's Dec. 4

Santa Bus Tour Comes to North Olmsted

Trading in his reindeer for a shiny Macy’s tour bus, Santa Claus is coming to Macy's at Great Northern Mall in style on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 1 p.m.! Visiting children of all ages, Santa Claus will welcome one and all to join in the festivities, as he reminds everyone about the magic of the Christmas season and shares a few magical moments with his jolly elves.

As it has for the past three years, Macy’s “Believe” campaign invites children to mail letters to Santa using Macy’s Santa Mail Letterboxes. Macy’s donates $1 for each letter mailed in store, up to $1 million, to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  Santa encourages everyone to write their letters and bring them to Macy's to drop in their special "Believe" mailbox.

While in Macy's delivering your letter, make sure to visit this year's new “Believe Stations,” in-stores where you will have an opportunity to take a photo with the campaign’s animated stars Virginia and Ollie from the animated holiday special “Yes, Virginia.” Using new augmented reality technology, customers with iOS and select Android smartphones can download the “Macy’s Believe-o-Magic” app that allows them to unlock the magic to see and interact with Virginia, Ollie and their friends.

Customers can step in the frame and take a photo, which can also be uploaded into a holiday card template to share via email or Facebook. Customers can also preview the magic at home by downloading the application and printing out the marker. When they point “Macy’s Believe-o-Magic” camera at the marker, they can see an animated Virginia ice skating right in their homes!

Launching his national tour in 2009 as part of Macy’s popular “Believe” campaign, Santa’s national tour will once again take him on a whirlwind trip to visit 26 cities in 26 days across America. Motoring from New York City (where he will have just finished Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade), Santa’s tour starts on Nov. 26 in Bangor, Maine, and concludes on Dec. 21 in Nashville, Tenn.

Santa Claus first appeared at Macy’s in 1862, on 14th Street in New York City. As time passed, Macy’s expanded, moving Santa to the store’s new location on 34th Street in 1902. In 1924, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade stepped off for the first time to usher in the season and bring Santa to the store to unveil Macy’s famous Christmas windows. In 1947, Santa was immortalized in the classic film "Miracle on 34th Street." Many decades later, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has become the official start of the holiday season each year, bringing the one-and-only Santa Claus to town.
