Amelia Bedelia to visit the Bay Village Branch Library!

Bernice Cernoch as Amelia Bedelia will visit the Bay Village Branch Library on Jan. 23. She will bring lots of silliness along with fun literacy and art activities.

Are you a child between the ages of 4-8, or do you know one? If so, do we have a program for you on Monday, Jan. 23 –  a day there is no school. Come to the Bay Village Branch Library to meet Amelia Bedelia!

You read that right – you can MEET her at the library and help her to tell one of the stories of her funny exploits. Amelia has held many positions: housekeeper, teacher, politician, baseball player, babysitter, doctor, camper and more. She also does exactly what you tell her to do, so be careful what you say!

If you ask her to “pitch a tent in the woods” she will throw the tent into the woods! Another time she turned down an invitation to go to a garage sale stating that she didn’t need a garage, thank you very much! Anyone familiar with the books will know that Amelia means well, but she often get mixed up!

Peggy Parish, Amelia Bedelia’s creator, was a third-grade teacher before she was an author. She knew what children liked to read so she wrote stories for her classes. Peggy wanted to foster an early love of reading in children that would last a lifetime.

Please join us on your day off! There are two times to attend: 11 a.m.-noon OR 2-3 p.m. After Amelia shares a story with us, we’ll do a related craft. Remember to bring your own camera to take your picture with Amelia Bedelia! Call the library at 871-6392 or go online to cuyahogalibrary.org to say you’ll be joining us!
