Two Lady Rockets, Giuliana Pugliese and Rachel Vicks, sign with colleges

Bay High soccer captain Giuliana Pugliese will play at Ursuline College next year, and her classmate, volleyball MVP Rachel Vick, will head to Eastern Kentucky University to play on their volleyball team.

Pugliese played soccer all four years at Bay High, serving as Captain of the Lady Rockets Varsity Soccer team her junior and senior years. She also played basketball as a freshman and sophomore. Giuliana has participated in choir, Bay High's Youth Philanthropic Foundation, and the Bay High HUDDLE (Helping Us Develop Dedication, Leadership & Enthusiasm) group, which serves and role models for young students and teaches them healthy lifestyle choices.

In addition, Giuliana spent all four high school years working with Bay High's P.A.L. group (Pupil Assistance in Learning), where she mentored students with disabilities. She has been named to Second Team All-Cleveland and First Team All-Conference for soccer as a sophomore, junior and senior. (Her Bay High girls soccer coach is Jack Griffiths.)

In addition to playing volleyball all of her four years at Bay High, Vick played basketball as a sophomore and ran track as a junior. She participated in choir all four years of high school and is a member of the National Honor Society. She also participated in her school's Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) organization and the Bay High HUDDLE group.

She also worked two summers as a lifeguard. Rachel was named to First Team All District, First Team All Conference, and All Conference MVP in volleyball as a junior and senior. (Her Bay High Volleyball coach is Tony Tahan.)

Friends and family wished the girls well at a signing ceremony held at Bay High on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
