Do you have a heart for history?

A little over 50 years ago, several residents noticed how quickly Westlake was growing and realized a need to preserve our local history. After the celebration of our city’s 150th birthday in 1961, the Westlake Historical Society was organized to collect and preserve the local history of our area for the benefit of everyone – past, present and future!

Our organization is entirely operated by volunteers from Westlake and other communities as well. Funds raised from donations and memberships help to sustain the Clague House Museum, which is home to our local collection and also to our organization.

Your memberships and donations are also used to help fund children’s and adult programming, preservation of items relevant to Westlake history, and provide for day-to-day operational expenses such as supplies and utilities. May is Membership Month at the Westlake Historical Society and we hope you will join many of your friends, neighbors and community businesses as we join together to help preserve the rich local history of our area.

Joining our society is easy and inexpensive. Various levels of individual and business memberships are available beginning with our $5.00 student membership. Since the Westlake Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, all or a portion of your donation is tax-deductible. If your company or business sponsors local civic organizations, the Westlake Historical Society offers many individual events and activities worthy of your support.

In addition to your financial assistance, we also offer many opportunities to volunteer on a wide variety of projects. Your time is gratefully appreciated no matter how much you have to offer! For more information on joining the Westlake Historical Society, please contact Dave, our membership director, at 440-808-1961 or email us at westlakehistory@yahoo.com.
