Chamber gives away sweet ride

Everyone loves a party and everyone loves to win prizes. That was evident at a June 13 event hosted by the West Shore Chamber of Commerce at Montrose Kia in Sheffield Lake.

As part of the "Power of More” campaign, which combines the strengths of the four local chambers of commerce (Westshore, North Coast, Fairview and North Olmsted), the year’s premier event featured a grand prize giveaway of a three-year car lease to one lucky chamber member.

The giveaway was a fun way for the chamber to tout the advantages of chamber membership, while giving members an incentive to attend chamber events over the past few months. Every chamber event attended by members throughout the year earned them an entry into the car raffle.

Jim Chillemi of Terra Realty & Development called the Power of More event “the culmination of a series of the most dynamic networking events” he has ever seen.

Excitement built throughout the evening as drawings took place giving away a multitude of prizes including an iPad and a large screen television leading up to the drawing of the bright red Kia Soul.

Attorney Robert Frye won the HDTV and Patti Zinn from Dantio Grabo & Company took home the newest-generation iPad. But the big winner of the evening was Vicky Abady from Ethan Allen, who was almost speechless when her name was pulled from the hat in the car raffle. Her colleagues cheered her on as she climbed behind the wheel of the Kia.

First Federal of Lakewood, AT&T, Cleveland Clinic and the Westlake | Bay Village Observer helped sponsor the prizes through donations and services.

The local chambers believe that strengthening the connections between local businesses in their cities leads to stronger communities. Charter membership provides excellent networking opportunities as they host a variety of events throughout the year, including luncheons, after-hours socials, guest speakers and golf outings.

By joining forces, the chambers are able to offer enhanced benefits to members, including more events, contacts and opportunities to grow their business.

“The Power of More is an excellent program to bring businesses together by providing opportunities for networking in a fun environment focused on community,” said grand prize winner Vicky Abady.
