We can use your help!

The IRS sponsored AARP Tax Aide Program is looking for volunteers for the 2014 tax filing season. Training classes for new volunteers and prior years’ volunteers alike, will be held in Westlake this coming January.

Because of our federal and state tax code changes each year, all volunteers must attend and pass these IRS-designed classes to be able to move forward with the tax preparation program. The Tax Aide Program begins in February and ends April 15.

The no-cost program assists people with low to middle incomes. Singles, families and seniors will be helped with their confidential tax preparation. We are able to file both federal and state returns electronically.

There are many volunteer sites throughout our Westshore cities that are open on various weekdays. If you have only one weekday to volunteer, there is a place for you.

As an example, Bay Village is open on Friday mornings. Last year the Bay site alone filed more than 750 returns.

Come, volunteer, and we’ll train you. You’ll meet a great group of workers! You’ll feel fulfilled by giving some time to those who can use an extra hand with tax preparation.

To volunteer or for some additional information contact me, Dave Tadych (440-835-1815), Don Palmer (440-777-7761) or John Basalla (440-734-3979). It’s a great program! And we will welcome your help.
