Visioning your life

For a moment, imagine your world without vision. But first, define vision, is it your sight, objects you see with your eyes? Or is it your imagination, or your consciousness? Or a combination of all three?

Ever heard the expression, "Seeing the world through rose-colored glasses?" How about, "Seeing the glass half empty or half full?" Heard someone describe another as a "Pollyanna?" These expressions really refer to an attitude or an approach towards life, as opposed to things we see with our eyes. They refer to how we live our lives daily. How we live our lives is one of the most important decisions we will ever make, as it affects our families, our community and our planet.

Rev. Michael Bernard Beckwith of Agape International Spiritual Center is a man with a vision for each and every one of us. He speaks of a different kind of seeing, a seeing from the soul, an expansion of the consciousness through levels of realization of who we really are, who we are meant to be, the greatness of self we are meant to be.

Rev. Beckwith's "Life Visioning Process" is the basis for a workshop being held at Unity Spiritual Center in Westlake, starting Feb. 22. The workshop will be held from 12:45-2:45 p.m. on Sundays, Feb. 22, March 1, March 8 and March 22. Classes cost $10 each, or all four for $35. Lunch is provided; lunchtime begins at 12:15.

I asked Rev. Joanne Rowden, minister of Unity, why someone would want to take her upcoming class – what benefits they can hope to receive. She explained, "This four-week workshop is designed to support you in understanding the four basic states of consciousness as we expand to God’s greater vision of our lives. Those four states of consciousness are Victim Consciousness (life happens to me), Manifester Consciousness (life happens by me), Channel Consciousness (life happens through me) and Being Consciousness (life happens as me). If you are ready to open to a greater vision for your life, you will want to come and learn the spiritual laws of the universe that are waiting to work for you as you apply them in your life."

Joanne continued, "I have been teaching this class since 2008 when I knew I needed to do ministry differently. I was looking for an organic process that would allow God’s greater vision to unfold as each of us individually gets out of the way of our own agenda. At that time I discovered the 'Life Visioning Process.' I love to see people light up with deeper understanding as they become clear about the greater good that is waiting for each of us to embrace and welcome into our lives."
