Lake Erie Nature & Science Center offering education internships for college students

Are you a college student studying early childhood education, environmental sciences, biology, zoology or a related field?

Lake Erie Nature & Science Center is seeking interns to join their Education Staff and take part in a unique educational opportunity this summer. Interns will gain hands-on experience working side-by-side with staff by assisting with preschool, school age and public education programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with daily classroom activities
  • Along with Center staff, supervising children ages 18 months through 18 years
  • Assisting with various public education programs
  • Performing other administrative and organizational duties

Preferred candidates should be in the process of completing coursework in early childhood education, environmental sciences, biology, zoology or a related field. Applicants should value the Center’s mission and programs, demonstrate teamwork, be able to take on multiple projects at once and show proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office software. This is an unpaid internship, however may qualify for course credit. Interns must be available four to five days a week during the summer.

To apply, email a resume, cover letter and two letters of recommendation to Director of Education, Darci Sanders, at darci@lensc.org.

Applications will also be accepted for the 2017-2018 academic year. Interns must be available two to three days a week. Applications will be reviewed in August 2017.
