During the first week of October, Bay Village residents will open their hearts to help victims of recent hurricanes hundreds of miles away in Texas, Florida and islands in the Caribbean.

The Bay Village Foundation is sponsoring a Community Yard Sale at Bayway Cabin on Friday, Oct. 6, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 7, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Residents have an opportunity to join in this citywide effort in two ways: donate items to be sold at the event or buy items donated by others. Sale proceeds are designated for American Red Cross Disaster Relief.

Items accepted for donation include: toys, books, art supplies, school supplies, office equipment, sporting goods, tools, furniture, jewelry, kitchen items, home decor and more. No clothing donations will be accepted.

Event organizer Annie Nock was inspired to organize a community yard sale when “every friend and neighbor I talked to expressed the same concern and interest in helping victims of the hurricanes ravaging our country. Bay Village is an extremely caring and generous place. This Community Yard Sale is one way to help."

Donations will be accepted at Bayway Cabin on Tuesday, Oct. 3, and Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and on Thursday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Planners are making great strides due to The Bay Village Foundation sponsorship, cooperation from the mayor's office, support from Bay Village Community Council, and the availability of Bayway Cabin.
