Learn about early Dover Township at Lakeside Cemetery tour

Learn about life in early Dover Township at a tour of Lakeside Cemetery on Sunday, Sept. 30, planned by the Bay Village Historical Society.

Tours will depart at regular intervals from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Lakeside Cemetery on Lake Road in Bay Village. Actors will be at Lakeside Cemetery, where they will relate the stories of several individuals buried in the cemetery. Become intrigued while hearing tales of the Cahoon, Jaycox, Osborn, Oviatt, Sadler and Wischmeyer families.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to view a copy of the letter sent by Rebecca Porter’s mother to Rebecca’s family upon her death in 1814. Rebecca’s death was the catalyst for establishing the cemetery more than 200 years ago.

Admission is free. Parking is at the west end of Huntington Park. Phone 440-835-4472 for information, or visit bayhistorical.com.

Rose Hill Museum and the Reuben Osborn Learning Center, located in nearby Cahoon Memorial Park and operated by the Bay Village Historical Society, will be open on Sept. 30.
