Wednesday, Oct. 2 (1-2:30 p.m.) Cuyahoga West Genealogical Society Help Session – Please join the genealogy group for an informal walk-in help session. Please bring pedigree and/or family group sheets to aid the volunteers in helping you.

Wednesdays, Oct. 2, 9 and 16 (4-5:30 p.m.) and Thursdays, Oct. 3 and 17 (6:30-8 p.m.) Bow Wow Books – Stop by Youth Services to sign up for a 10-minute reading time with a reading therapy dog. Dogs will stay for 10 minutes past the last registered reader or 1.5 hours, whichever comes first. Sign-ups begin Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. and Thursday at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 2 (6-8:45 p.m.) CPR – CPR and AED certification for adult, child and infant. Instruction by certified instructors/paramedics from UH St. John Medical Center. Must be 13 years of age. Thursday, Oct. 3 (10 a.m.-noon) Reverse Mortgages for Seniors – Reverse mortgages are valuable tools for seniors 62 and older. There is almost no limit for use of the funds which come tax free. Thursday, Oct. 3 (1:30-2:30 p.m.) Write to a Friend – Adults with special needs and their caregivers will decorate cards for friends or senior citizen pen pals. Several options for all abilities will be provided. No letter or card writing experience necessary. Come early and bring your own lunch, if you’d like.

Thursdays, Oct. 3 and 10 (4-5 p.m., Grades 3-4) and Monday, Oct. 7 (4-5 p.m., Grades 3-8) Code Club! – Learn how to build an app, design a video game, and change the world through code! Registration begins a week before each session. Please register for just one session per week.

Thursday, Oct. 3 (6-7 p.m.) Teen Trivia Night – Get your team assembled and join us the first Thursday of the month for Teen Trivia Night! There will be different themes each month. Please register.

Thursdays, Oct. 3 and 10 (6-6:45 p.m.) Adapted Storytime – This 30-minute storytime followed by a time for socialization is designed for children who may not be successful in a typical storytime experience. Content is geared to ages 3-7 but all ages are welcome. Siblings may also attend but must register separately. Please register.

Thursdays, Oct. 3 and 10 (7-8:30 p.m.) Calling Crafters: Fall Paper Leaf Wreath – Adult crafters will have fun learning how to make a fall wreath using a variety of leaf shapes made from patterned papers. Take home your own creative wreath. Registration required; must be 18 or older.

Saturday, Oct. 5 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.) ACT Practice Exam – Get ready for test time with an ACT practice exam. Students will have the option to take the writing portion from 1-2 p.m. as well. Grades 9-12. Please register.

Saturday, Oct. 5 (10-11:30 a.m.) Beginning Coding for Adults – Learn the basics of coding through self-paced online modules. An instructor will be on hand to help get you started and to facilitate lessons. The class focus is on HTML and CSS. Please register.

Sunday, Oct. 13 (2-3:30 p.m.) Boredom Busters! – Are you bored? Drop by the Storytime Room and join in the fun! We will have different activities available each month. All ages welcome.

Sunday, Oct. 13 (2-4 p.m.) 800+ Chess Club – A chance for those competing at an 800+ USCF Rating to work together on strategies, skills and game play. If you’re a beginner, please attend our Chess Club on the last Sunday of the month.
