Porter Library seeks new trustee

Westlake Porter Public Library is currently accepting applications for a position on the board of trustees that starts immediately. The opening will fill an unexpired term available due to a board member’s resignation to pursue opportunities in another state, and will expire in 2026.

The board is composed of seven members and has primary responsibility for approving library policies, setting the budget, hiring a director and fiscal officer and advocating for the library. Terms are seven years with a maximum of two terms. Library board meetings are held monthly, usually on the third Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the library.

Trustees represent the community at large and their varied library interests. The only prerequisite for applicants is that they have an interest in public library issues and wish to become a public library advocate.

The departing trustee, Kate Maver, began her term on the board in January 2020. She was an outstanding trustee, and her contributions, which helped move the library forward, are greatly appreciated.

Those interested in applying for a trustee position may download a fillable form from the library’s web site at westlakelibrary.org. Forms are also available at the library’s Reception Desk, by calling the Administration Department at 440-250-5451 or by emailing karen.hunt@westlakelibrary.org.

For more details on responsibilities of trustees or on the application process, please call library Director Andrew Mangels at 440-250-5450. The application deadline is June 25, 2022.
