Westlake Porter Public Library's late June calendar of events

Wednesday, June 22 (6-8:30 p.m.) HeartSaver CPR/AED – Get certified for adult, child, and infant CPR and AED. Class led by certified instructors from UH St. John Medical Center. Visit uhems.org/event-search to register. Email account required. Participants under the age of 14 must have a parent or legal guardian in class. If any questions, contact the instructors at uh4cpr@gmail.com. 

Wednesdays, June 22 and 29 (7-7:30 p.m.) Family Storytime – Join us for rhymes, songs and play! For families with children ages 2-6. Siblings are welcome. Registration begins one week before each session.

Thursday, June 23 (2-3 p.m.) Teen Crafternoons – Join us for in-person crafting this afternoon. For teens in grades 7-12.

Thursday, June 23 (4-5:30 p.m.) Art Walk – Enjoy a low impact walk in Clague Park and take nature photographs. Meet at the parking lot off Roman Lane, closest to the pond. Dress for the weather and bring water! The library will provide devices for participants. You may use your own camera, phone, or other device, if you prefer. Photography will be featured in the library gallery in September 2022. For adults with disabilities and caregivers. Please register.

Friday, June 24 (9:30-10 a.m.) Summer Yoga with Ms. Jen – Calm your body, mind and spirit in this yoga class taught by Ms. Jen, certified yoga instructor! Wear comfy clothes and bring your own mat or towel. Ages 2-6, siblings welcome. Please register.

Friday, June 24 (4-4:45 p.m.) Fun Science Friday: Earth’s Moon – Join Mrs. K as we explore the science of our moon. We will learn about phases of the moon and how craters form. Discoveries will be made through hands-on experiments, active participation and a simple take-home project. Ages 4-6, up to Kindergarten. Please register.

Saturday, June 25 (11-11:45 a.m.) Adapted Storytime – Join us for this storytime designed for children who may not be successful in a typical storytime. Content is geared toward ages 3-7 years. Please register.

Saturday, June 25 (3-4 p.m.) Illustration Creation – Learn about a featured illustrator and then create a project inspired by their art. Grades 1-3. Please register.

Sunday, June 26 (3:30-4 p.m.) Paint Play – We will explore many ways to play with paint. Please wear clothes that can get messy! Ages 3-8. Please register.

Monday, June 27 (9-a.m.-9 p.m.) Summer Crafts Pick Up – Celebrate summer with some fun crafts! Kits will be available until closing, unless other arrangements are made. Please register.

Monday, June 27 (10-10:30 a.m.) Music Monday – Develop pre-reading skills with music, movement and rhythm through stories, songs, and rhymes. Ages 2-6. Please register.

Monday, June 27 (2-3 p.m.) Teen Craft: Handmade Jewelry – During this craft session we’ll be learning how to make your own post earrings. Grades 7-12. Please register.

Monday, June 27 (6:30-7:30 p.m.) How to Become a Real Estate Agent – Have you ever thought about joining the exciting world of real estate? If you’re looking for a career that allows you to make your own schedule, build your own book of business, and be your own boss, look no further! Presented by Bethany Teriaca, Director of Recruiting - Ohio Howard Hanna Real Estate Services.

Tuesday, June 28 (2-2:30 p.m.) Reading Buddies – Partner up with one of our teen reading buddies to practice your reading skills and share your favorite stories! Grades 1-3. Registration begins one week before each session.

Tuesday, June 28 (7-8:30 p.m.) LGBTQ+ 101 – A truly inclusive workplace demonstrates a functional understanding of diversity, programs and policies that advance inclusion, and languages and behaviors that support a diverse and productive workplace. Attendees will learn, practice, and develop skills and understandings that enable them to respond to complex situations and interactions in the workplace. We’ll also build your team’s knowledge of the LGBTQ consumer, employee marketplace, and economic buying power. Please register.

Wednesday, June 29 (3-4 p.m.) Family Game and Puzzle Time – Put together a puzzle or enjoy a game at the library! You can bring your own or use one of ours! Ages 3-12. Families can gather and have fun in an understanding and empathetic environment. This program is inclusive and is for those with disabilities and typical peers. Registration begins June 22.

Wednesday, June 29 (7-8 p.m.) Adult Creative Writing Group – Join us for an hour of creative writing prompts to inspire you to start and keep writing. Creativity is more than putting pen to paper. It’s about breaking away and trying something new! Please register.

Thursday, June 30 (3-4 p.m.) Breakout – This breakout challenge is going to test your ability to work together. Solve all the clues and unlock the mystery! For grades 7-12. Registration begins June 23.

Thursday, June 30 (7-7:45 p.m.) Oceans of Fun Magic Show with Jim Kleefeld – This magic show will be full of jokes, acts of astonishment and animal tales galore to keep the laughter rolling! Jim Kleefeld is a one-of-a-kind performer; you won't want to miss this! For children up to 5th grade and their families.
