Village Project to host fundraising clambake

There is no doubt about it – fall in northeast Ohio is clambake season. Local lore has it that our love of a traditional clambake stems from this region’s historical link to New England and our beachy location on Lake Erie. In any case, as the air pleasantly cools, as football, cheerleaders and marching bands rule the stadiums, and as the leaves turn shades of red, yellow, orange and purple, northeast Ohioans naturally hunger to enjoy these beautiful days of autumn near the water with friends … and a big pot of steaming, delicious clams.

The Village Project invites you to throw on a sweater or sweatshirt and join in the fun of their second annual Clambake-on-the-Lake on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 5 to 9 p.m. in Bay Village. The evening will be graciously hosted at the lovely home of Bill and Lisa Priemer, who are steadfast supporters of this local, philanthropic organization.

Besides beautiful views of Lake Erie and welcome fellowship, each clambake guest will enjoy one dozen middleneck clams, a seasoned half-chicken, sweet corn, sweet potato, cole slaw, dinner roll, beer, wine and – new this year – a specialty drink.

Tickets are $80 each and must be ordered by Oct. 12. They may be ordered online at https://ourvillageproject.com/events/clambake-on-the-lake.Due to this event’s popularity in 2018, Village Project has increased the number of guests that may attend this year. However, because of space limitations, only 150 tickets will be sold.

All proceeds from this event help support Village Project’s mission. The need for VP services is greater than ever. Clambake guest participation will help Village Project create a healthier, more connected community while providing nourishing meals and extended care to those battling cancer.

The Clambake-on-the-Lake also will be the location for the raffle drawing of a Nurture Level Sponsorship at our annual gala, NOURISH, to be held on Feb. 29, 2020. The winner will receive two entry tickets to NOURISH, two raffle tickets for the NOURISH grand prize, as well as recognition in the program and on the website. Raffle tickets are available on the website and also at the Clambake at a cost of one ticket for $20 or three tickets for $50. The winner does not need to be present to win.
